William Albert Schmidt, 94, died Wednesday, March 15, 2017.

Albert Schmidt was born August 8, 1922 in Fort Worth, Texas. He attended Fort Worth schools, graduating from Technical High School where he met his future wife, Ruby, while practicing for the Senior Play. He served three years in the Army Air Corp during WWII as an Aviation Engineer and was in Okinawa where his unit was preparing for the invasion of Japan prior to its surrender. After being discharged in 1946, he and Ruby lived in Fort Worth where they raised three sons. Albert worked for the family plumbing business, Schmidt Plumbing Company, his entire career, retiring in 1987 before moving to Granbury in 1990. In July, 2016 he received his 70 year membership certificate in the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Union where he served on the Finance Committee of Local #146. He also served on the Fort Worth Plumbing Board of Adjustment. Albert was a 60 year Mason. He also was a longtime Sunday school department secretary at Sagamore Hill Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George V. and Jessie J. Myers Schmidt, Ruby Schmidt, his wife of 74 years, as well as their eldest son, William (Bill) Albert Schmidt, Jr. Also preceding him in death was his daughter-in-law, Lisa Schmidt.
SURVIVORS: Sister-In-Law, Jackie Stewart; Sons, Jim (wife, Ann) and Paul (wife, Celeste); Grandchildren, Gretchen Vaughan (husband, Jeff), Justin Schmidt (wife, Abey), Allison Lounsbury (husband, Nathanial), Erika Schmidt, Maria Schmidt, Caden Schinagel; and Great Grandchildren, Zoe and Garrett Vaughan, Gabriel and Ethan Lounsbury and Barrett Schmidt.
