Albert Leo Grubbs

Albert Leo Grubbs, 94, passed away Friday, October 23, 2020.

Graveside Service: 1:00 p.m. Thursday, November 5, 2020 in Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.

Visitation: The family will receive family and friends from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Albert Leo Grubbs was born November 3, 1925 to Joseph Judson Grubbs and Nola Pearl Frost Grubbs.

Leo was the 6th and youngest child of his family. He was known to be a little ornery, but mostly a happy fun loving young man. As a young adult he served in the United States Army as an infantry rifleman. Even in the worst of times and situations, he could find a way to have fun. One such time was when he took an officer’s jeep on a joy ride on a beach in Japan where he crossed paths with Emperor Hirohito. After being honorably discharged, he returned home.

Being traumatized and broken led him to make the best decision of his life, to give his heart completely and entirely over to Jesus.

He saw the love of his life and future soul mate when Ida Merle Hambrick walked into the church where he was seated on the platform to speak that evening. He leaned to the man beside him to ask who that girl was. It was love at first sight. They were married April 15, 1948 in Amarillo, Texas. Through thick and then, good times and hard times, they were a team. They lived an idealic, exemplary life together, where God was first in their lives. They served the Lord whole heartedly together until her passing December 3, 2018. They were soulmates, lovers and best friends for 70 wonderful years.

Leo was a carpenter most of his life. He could figure how to properly design a roof in his head and could spot a badly designed roof a mile away.

Leo was a Sunday School teacher for over 50 years of his life. He taught with an undying love and passion for his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

He was a gentle, loving, caring man that always put God first and his family next. He was a faithful husband, a kind and loving father, a true friend and so much more. To know him was to love him. He loved to laugh and tell a good story. Hands down, he had the best shoulder-shaking belly laugh around.

Leo was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, three sisters and the love of his life, his wife.

Survivors: He is survived by his two daughters, a son, and their families. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren and a host of other family and friends.

What a heritage and example he left to so many. He will be forever loved and cherished.
