TOLAR — Al Warden, 80, passed away Monday, June 24, 2013, at Plaza Medical Center in Fort Worth after a long illness.
Funeral: 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 29, 2013, at Wiley Funeral Home. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Cremation will follow the service.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the American Lung Association or American Heart Association.
Alfred Francis Warden was born Feb. 8, 1933, in Newburgh, N.Y., to Eleanor and Jacob Warden. He retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1971, at Goodfellow AFB, San Angelo, Texas, after 20 years of service to our country. He then went to Angelo State University where he graduated from nursing school in 1973. After retiring from nursing, he moved to Tolar, Texas in 1995 where he lived until his death. He enjoyed bowling and received several bowling awards. He also enjoyed traveling and discovering new places. Al was preceded in death by his parents, Jacob and Eleanor Warden and his wife, Penny Jo Paige Warden on July 31, 2010.
Survivors: Children, Mark G. Warden of Corpus Christi, Michael A. Warden of Briggs, Texas, Deborah Warden Gilbert and husband, Tim, of San Angelo, Pamela Warden Louie and husband, Victor, of San Antonio; nine grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; Penny’s children, Richard Herzog of North Richland Hills, Tracy Young of Katy, Texas; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Michael and Pam Wims of Salt Lake City, Utah; first wife and mother of his children, Barbara.
