Alfred Henry Arnold was born in San Antonio Texas on February 17, 1939. He was the only child of Chester Henry Arnold and Clara Lee Jefferson.
He graduated from Phillis Wheatley High School in San Antonio and attended college at Cal State Long Beach. He served in both the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Coast Guard achieving both “Expert” and “Sharpshooter” status before his honorable discharge. He also was a Coast Guard Reservist until his retirement. He worked for the Federal Aviation Administration as a Procurement Officer until his retirement.
He married Ruth Woolridge in August, 1957. The couple moved several times eventually moving to California where their two children, Richard Dean Arnold and Carolyn Louise Arnold were born. He was married to Ruth for more than 18 years.
In 1997 he married Shirley Williams. The couple lived in Fort Worth, TX until her death in July of 2009. Shirley had four sons: Daryle Ware, Richard, Walter, and Frederick “Chris” Williams.
He leaves behind his grandchildren Marcus Boykin Jr. and Shanika Robinson, and four great grandchildren. He also has ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren from his second marriage. He will be remembered by all his family and friends as a generous and caring man.
