Anna “Beth” Elizabeth Starns

Beth, 80, passed unexpectedly February 28, 2022 at Wise Health Hospital, in Decatur, Texas.

Beth was born September 3, 1941, to the late Lena Byronette (Becky) and Willie Henry Murr.  Lena and Willie divorced, and she married the late Brooks Wellington De’Arman.

Graveside Service:  12 noon, Friday, March 18, 2022 at Moore Memorial Gardens, 1219 North Davis Drive, Arlington, Texas 76012.

Rev. Dr. Murray Richey and Rev. Dr Ed Nunnelley will officiate, and music provided by her grandson Brad Hargiss.

Beth was raised in River Oaks, Texas where she was amongst the first graduating class of Castleberry High School in 1959. She graduated 4^th out of 112 students.  She then went on to graduate from Brantley Draughn School of Business.  She married Robert (Bob) Starns in February 1962 and in January 1970 they adopted their daughter Anita DeLynn Hargiss.  Beth and Bob later divorced.  In the meantime she went to work for Panther Industries, where she worked for over 35 years.  After retirement from Panther Industries, she worked for ASM where she handed out samples at stores such as Walmart and Sams Club.

Church, family and friends were most important to Beth.  She was a member of John Knox Presbyterian Church most of her life.  There she enjoyed going to worship, singing in the choir, teaching youth, Sunday school, and VBS.  Later the church closed, and she moved to Springtown, Texas, and then she started attending First Presbyterian Church in Mineral Wells, Texas.  She felt at home right away and enjoyed attending worship and singing in the Choir there as well.

Beth also had a love of animals, especially dogs which she developed as a young girl helping her father, Willie Henry’s boarding kennel.  Together they would also groom and show dogs and won quite a few trophies.

Beth was preceded in death by her father, Willie Henry Murr, mother, Lena Byronette De’Arman, Stepfather, Brooks Wellington De’Arman and her brother, Billy Byron Murr.

Beth is survived by her daughter, Anita DeLynn Hargiss and her husband, Kevin Franklin Hargiss; four grandchildren, William Bradford (Brad) Hargiss and his wife, Lucinda Estell Hargiss, Brooke Elizabeth Hargiss and her fiancé, Caleb Brandon Scott Beavers, Blake Edward Hargiss, and Beckie Lynn Hargiss; two great-grandchildren, Lorelai René Hargiss and Cece Annalise Beavers; and her beloved dog, Chelsea.
