Audrey Viles Spellman, Pecan Plantation, passed away peacefully on
July 10, 2015 at 99 years old, after a very blessed and active life. She was born Feb. 24, 1916 to
Joseph and Sadie (Hildreth) Viles in Paris, Texas.
Graveside service: Thursday, July 16, 2015 at Holly Hills Memorial Park
Visitation 4 – 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 15, 2016 at Martin’s Funeral home.
While living in Dallas, Audrey worked for several dress manufacturer’s as a supervisor and a
model. She also owned Audrey’s Dress and Beauty Shop located in downtown Dallas
. After marrying Clarence Spellmen, they moved to Pecan Plantation near Granbury where they loved
spending time with family and friends. They also enjoyed traveling, especially to New York and Las
Vegas. Audrey was an active member of the Lady Bug Garden Club and her bridge club.
She was preceded in death by: her parents and step-father, Charlie Keener; sisters, Mercedes Goodlow (Eddiei), Leola Kennedy (Edgar), Dessie Hartman (Charles), Bessie McClain (Mac), Lillie Knowles (Leroy); brothers, Cleburn Viles, Charles Keener, Cecil Keener (Edith), Harvey Keener (Machen), Melvin
Keener (Maureen); First husband, Mace Curtis, Jr and second husband and soul mate, Clarence Spellman.
Survived by: Son, Warren Spellman, Daughter, Susan Anderson (Brad); Grandaughters, Rebecca, Kristen and Kelly Anderson; nieces, Betty Otts (Joel), Charlotte Taylor (Kenneth), Audrey Stubblefield (Charlie),
Gloria Holdrige (Jerry); nephews- Hank Holdrige, Tommy Curtis; numerous great nieces and nephews and a host of friends at Pecan Plantation and The Courtyard.
The family would like to especially thank her good friends and neighbors, Ray and Elizabeth Stewart for all the love and care they have given her.
We also appreciate and thank the staff at The Courtyard where she spent the end of her life.
