Barbara Lee Pole Polly, 70, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 3, 2014, in Savannah, Georgia, after a courageous three-year battle against cancer. Her two children, Gregory Blaine Wolf of Coppell and Amy Paige Condon of Savannah, were at her bedside.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, December 10, in Biggers Funeral Chapel. Interment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 to 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home prior to the service.
The family suggests any remembrances be made in her honor to Samaritan House or Hospice Savannah.
Known for her sweet, selfless manner and tender smile, Barbara was born April 7, 1944, in Childress and lived most of her life in Fort Worth, where she attended Lake Worth High School, became a licensed vocational nurse, and worked for Tarrant County for more than 30 years. She was a member of John Knox Presbyterian Church, and she volunteered for the Ronald McDonald House and baked birthday cakes for residents of Samaritan House.
She was preceded in death by her parents, A.R. “Skinnie” and R.E. Smith Pole.
She is survived by her son, Greg and his wife, Sherrill; daughter, Amy and her husband, Brian; grandson, Jonah Wolf; sisters, Raenell Ruzicka and Teresa Russell; brother, Fred Pole; brothers-in-law, Calvin Ruzicka and Kenny Russell; sister-in-law, Barbara Pole; an extended family of beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
