Barbara Lamoyne Mathis Mosley, 68, went to join loved ones in her heavenly home on 13 December 2020 after her battle with Alzheimer’s. Barbara was born on23 January 1952 to JD (John Dewey) Mathis Jr. and Dorothy Lamoyne Pearson Mathis in Fort Worth, Texas.
Barbara was proceeded in death by her parents, JD and Dorothy Mathis as well as her ex-husband and life-long friend, Rickie Mosley. She is survived by her children, Carolyn Reney and husband Kenneth, Samantha Thomas and husband Randy, Melissa De Jesus and husband David as well as her grandchildren, Jacob Yocom, Brittany Reney, Avery De Jesus, Clayton Reney, and Ricky De Jesus. She is also survived by her sister, Melinda Moore and husband Quinton, and brother, John Mathis III as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Barbara grew up on the East side of Fort Worth. She went to Meadowbrook Elementary school and graduated in 1970 from Eastern Hills High School. She married Rickie Mosley on 29 Dec 1969. Barbara went back to school when her girls were older and received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Stephen F. Austin State University.
During her younger years she held many jobs to help support her family. Before going back to school, she worked during the East Texas oil boom for Dow Oil company as a truck driver and as a police officer for Palestine, Texas. After she graduated from college, she worked for the State Schools in Fort Worth and Mexia. She also worked as a psychologist for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.
After she retired, she enjoyed her full-time job of being a grandma. Her grandkids remember trips to the zoo, Six Flags, Chuck E. Cheese, Hot Springs, iHop, and lots of movie nights at her house where they curled up and watched all of the Santa Clause movies.
