Barbara Ann Wheeler Metker was born October 17, 1937 to James and Lois Wheeler in Fort Worth, Texas. She passed away December 18, 2020. Visitation will be held on Monday, December 21, 2020 from 6pm to 8pm at Wiley Funeral Home in Glen Rose. Service will be held on Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at 11am at Cottonwood Baptist Church in Glen Rose. Interment will follow at Nancy Smith Cemetery.
She was married to Carl F. “Buddy” Metker September 12, 1955 and made their home in Irving. They moved to Glen Rose in 1971, where they made their home on CR 1004 and continued to reside until her death.
Barbara began working for GRISD in 1974 and held numerous positions through-out her 35 years with GRISD (janitor, secretary, bus driver) and enjoyed supporting the Glen Rose Tigers.
She was nearly a 50-year member of Cottonwood Baptist Church. She also enjoyed making hand-made (with love) crocheted gifts for family and friends. Barbara enjoyed vegetable gardening and cooking for her children and grandchildren. She was a 25-year survivor of cancer.

Survived by her children: Ann Baker, Carolyn Vineyard and husband Bill; Carla O’Neal and husband Charlie, Carl Metker, Jr. and wife Vanessa, Willie Metker; 6 grandsons: Mike, Lonnie, Richie, Lance, Landon, Hunter; 10 grand-daughters: Candace, Amanda, Mikala, Caitlin, April, Mallory, Erika, Miranda, Madison, Camaron; 12 great grandsons;16 great grand-daughters and 2 great-great grand-daughters.
