DECORDOVA — Barbara Thornton Calaway, 73, passed away Monday, Mar. 24, 2014, in Fort Worth.
Funeral: 11:00 a.m. Thursday, Mar. 27, 2014, at Granbury First United Methodist Church. Burial: Acton Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Wiley Funeral Home.
Barbara was born Mar. 9, 1941, in Honeygrove, Texas, to George C. Thornton and Essie Williams Thornton. She married James L. Calaway, June 6, 1959, in Fort Worth. She had lived in Granbury since 1954 and was a volunteer at Lake Granbury Medical Center’s Senior Circle. She enjoyed the Red Hats, traveling, reading romance novels, Elvis Presley and the Texas Rangers. Preceding her in death were her parents, grandparents, Charlie and Beedie Williams, sister, Gayla McNeely, great aunts, Rassie Carder and Flossie Pearce, and uncle, Ralph Williams.
Survivors: Husband of 54 years, James “Jim” Calaway of Granbury; son, James Timothy “Tim” Calaway of Granbury; sisters, Linda Bagwell and husband, Robert, of Granbury, Shirley Reed and husband, Richard, of Granbury, Debbie Shelton and husband, Stephen, of Fate; uncle, Edd Williams of Dallas; nieces, Teresa, Dana and Holly; nephews, Randall and Mark; and a host of great nieces nephews, and many other cousins and friends in Granbury as well as other cities and states.
