Bessie Lee Woods Dunson, 90, of Granbury, peacefully passed away at her home on November 8, 2016.
Bessie was born in Wolfe City, TX, on December 12, 1925 to Willis Lovid Burton Woods and Cora Lee Onstot Woods. She was the 9th child out of 10 children. She was an amazing and selfless wife, Mom and Granmaw (aka Gma). She was married to Buster Cowen Dunson for 50 years; they had 3 children. She also had 5 grandchildren with 6 great grandchildren and 1 on the way.
Bessie and BC Dunson moved to Arlington, TX, in 1962, bought a home and raised their 3 children for 27 years. Bessie worked for Dr. Eugene Pope for 5 years and Arlington Memorial Hospital for 20 years. When they decided to retire, they moved to Granbury, TX, and lived there for 28 years. Bessie was a loving and caring person with numerous talents and hobbies. Her hobbies include bowling, painting pictures and landscapes, but her best painting is a portrait of President John F. Kennedy. She loved playing dominoes, especially chicken foot and Mexican train with her friends. Besides her talents and hobbies, she loved to cook and was well known for her King Ranch Casserole, tuna sandwiches and “Bessie” eggs. Everyone will miss her dearly.
Come celebrate her life at the memorial service being held on December 9th, 2016 @ 11:00 AM. The service will be held at the Holly Hills Memorial Park Chapel in Granbury, TX. Her grandson, Ben Dunson, will be officiating. Luncheon reception will be held in her home afterwards. She is preceded in death by her husband, BC Dunson, her parents, Willis and Cora Lee Woods and all of her 9 siblings. Survivors include: Steve and Laura Dunson, Julie Owen, Chris and Catherine Dunson. Her grandchildren, Ben Dunson, Chip Owen, Abbey Dunson, Lauren Dunson, Evan Owen and numerous great grandchildren.
