Betty Jenson Nielsen was born September 25, 1919 in Chicago, Illinois, to Jean S and Jantena Otten Jenson. She died January 3, 2018, in Glen Rose, Texas, at the age of 98. She met and married Jens P. Nielsen in 1940 in Falfurrias, Texas, and is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jens, and two sons, Jean Peder and Nels Jean Nielsen. She is survived by three children, Jay (Janet) Nielsen of San Antonio, Texas; Jantena (Douglas) Harl of Corpus Christi, Texas; and, Eugenie (Lonnie) Vaughn of Glen Rose, Texas. Betty is also survived by six grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. Her life was characterized by love for family and a strong Christian faith. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Special thanks to Mission Home Health Hospice employees for their compassion and care. Services will be held at the Falfurrias First United Methodist Church on Saturday, January 6 at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the First United Methodist Church, 302 West Allen St., Falfurrias, Texas 78355 or a favorite charity.
