Betty Jo Gray

TOLAR — Betty Jo Peters Gray, 86, passed away Monday, Feb. 22, 2016, in a Granbury Hospital.
Funeral: Thursday, February 25, 2016, at 10:00 a.m. at Wiley Funeral Home in Granbury.
Burial will follow at the Stroud Creek Cemetery.
Visitation: 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at Wiley Funeral Home.
Mrs. Gray was born Nov. 17, 1929, in Tolar, to R.D. (Delbert) and Chrystell McIlroy Peters. Betty Jo was an only child. She married Hub Gray, Jan. 30, 1948, in Granbury. They were blessed with 3 children. Betty was a member of the Tolar Baptist Church.
She loved to cook, sew and do crafts. She spent many years as a seamstress at Maybelle Sportswear, worked for awhile at the Granbury Care Center, and was a wonderful cook at the Tolar Retreat.
After Hub passed away in 2001, she had a lot of time on her hands. A family friend, Jay Meyer, gave her a part-time job at the Quik Stop. Betty got up early and would be at the Quik Stop ready for work by 5:30 or 6:00 a.m. She looked forward to talking to the delivery people and the Tolarites coming in early for coffee. Preceding her in death were her parents and husband.
She is survived by 3 children; 1 daughter, Cheryl Gray Cooper and husband, Gary, of Willow Park; 2 sons, Jody Gray and wife, Elaine, and Terry Gray and wife, Julie, all of Tolar; 7 grandchildren, Jason Cooper of North Richland Hills, Chandon, Jamie and Nick Gray, all of Tolar, Courtney Ives of Granbury, Porchia Gilbreath of Tolar and Carter Huddleston of Granbury; and 14 great grandchildren.
