WEATHERFORD — Betty Lucille Rogers, age 76, of Weatherford, TX passed away on October 5, 2014 in Arbor House of Granbury, TX due to complications of Alzheimer’s disease.
Visitation for family and friends will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 10, 2014, at Wiley Funeral Home.
Funeral: 10:00 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, 2014, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 4325 York Street, Wichita Falls, Texas. Burial: 9:00 a.m. Monday, Oct. 13, 2014, at Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery in Dallas.
Betty was born on May 19, 1938 in Pocatello, ID to Lucile Caroline Carlson and Everett Lee Poisel. She was one of ten children: Ruth, Gordon, Betty, Joan, Helen, Ralph, Evelyn, LaRue, Dale, and Bruce. She spent most of her childhood years in Gresham, OR. Betty enlisted in the army after graduation; while in the Washington DC area, she met the love of her life, Frank Charles Rogers. They were married on December 2, 1958.
After serving honorably in the Army for two years, Betty spent her 35 year career in civil service for the US Government. Betty lived in many places throughout her life: Pocatello, ID, Gresham, OR, Arlington, VA, Anchorage, AK, Turkey, Wichita Falls, TX, Manteca, CA, Albuquerque, NM, and Weatherford, TX.
Betty was a very talented singer; she served her church throughout her life as chorister and ward music director wherever she lived. She took a special interest in genealogy after she retired. She enjoyed visiting various libraries while accompanying her husband on his business trips. She found great success in researching her ancestors, having researched her Swedish ancestors back to the 1700’s. Betty also volunteered many hours of her time in service at the Albuquerque, NM and Dallas, TX Latter-Day Saint temples.
She was preceded in death by her daughter Kathy Rogers, her sisters, Ruth, Helen, Evelyn and Joan, her brother, Gordon, her son-in-law, William Sellers and her grandson, Timothy Sellers.
Survivors: Betty was survived by her husband of 55 years, Frank C. Rogers of Weatherford, TX; her children, Deborah S. Sellers of Wichita Falls, TX, Frank C. Rogers Jr. of Wichita Falls, TX and Nancy E. Farrior of Huffman, TX; her grandchildren, Tiffany Sellers, Ethan Farrior, David Farrior and Kyle Farrior and her great grandson, Riley Blackmon; sister, LaRue McMahon; and brothers Ralph, Dale, and Bruce Poisel.
