Betty Scala, 72, passed away Thursday, March 23, 2017 in Granbury.
A gathering will be Friday, March 31, 2017 from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Wiley Funeral Home, Granbury.

Betty was born in Fort Worth to Clyde and Lola Swarms on February 13, 1945. She served in the USAF as a Staff Sargent. Betty worked on the Pentagon Papers and was stationed in Hawaii. She had a competitive spirit, but was also a generous caretaker. She loved to laugh and had a dry sense of humor. Betty enjoyed traveling, loved children and animals. She was passionate about roller skating. She ran several roller rinks and taught skating. Betty loved scrapbooking and was very creative. When Betty’s daughter, Noelle brought Mike Metcalf home, she knew he was the guy for her daughter. She welcomed him to the family immediately. Betty was a fiery redhead, a spit-fire and a momma bear.
Survivors include her husband, Joseph Scala; daughters, Noelle Scala (fiancé Mike Metcalf), Wendy Birmingham (David Eatherly), Cari Redden (Matt Redden); grandchildren, Brandon Eatherly, Ritter Eatherly, and Oliver Redden.
