GLEN ROSE — Beverly Jane “BJ” Humphrey, 71, passed away Monday, Feb. 9, 2015, in Glen Rose where her last days were spent surrounded by her family and friends.
Funeral: 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2015, at Rainbow Baptist Church in Rainbow. Burial: Squaw Creek Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Wiley Funeral Home.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made to the Gideons.
BJ was born April 9, 1943, in Beaumont, Texas, to Robert L. “RL” and Neoma Ward. She married Jimmie D. “Don” Humphrey in April 1959 and remained married for 54 years until his passing in 2013. She worked many years in office administration in the hospital and nursing home industry.
BJ had many interest in her life. She loved her family and enjoyed following her son’s and grandchildren’s school sports and activities throughout the years. She also loved to travel with family and friends and shared Don’s passion for bluegrass music. She loved Jesus and was an active member of Rainbow Baptist Church where she served the Lord, including being part of the WMU. BJ had a beautiful smile that made other people smile and lit up any room she walked into. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Luke Humphrey.
Survivors: Sons, Daryle Humphrey and wife, Melissia, of Graford, Texas, Landy Humphrey and wife, Carla, of Rainbow, Alan Humphrey and wife, Elise, of Tolar; parents, Robert L. “RL” and Neoma Ward of Rainbow; step-brother, Robert L. Ward, Jr. of Platte City, Mo.; sisters, Emily Eaton of Bedford, Lawanna Roberts of Jacksonville, Ill.; seven grandchildren; two great grandchildren.
