Billy Deane Welch, 88, passed away on July 23, 2016.
Service: 1:30 PM, Wednesday, July 27, 2016, First Baptist Church, Lipan
Graveside Service: 4:00 PM, Wednesday, Greenwood Cemetery, Fort Worth
Visitation: 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM, Tuesday, Wiley Funeral Home, Lipan, Texas.
Bill was born in Stephenville on April 12, 1928. He went to school in Handley. At age 18, he enlisted into the Navy and served from 1946 to 1948 as a Seaman Class 1. During his enlistment in the Navy he earned the World War II Victory Medal and was honorably discharged. Bill became a carpenter and had a cabinet business in Fort Worth for 45 years and for 10 years in the Lipan area.
Bill married Joan Hendrix on May 9, 1964. They lived in Fort Worth for many years then moved to Lipan in 1993. Bill was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed visiting Alaska, Montana, Canada and Colorado. He also enjoyed hunting mountain sheep. He achieved the much sought after Grand Slam for obtaining four different types of sheep.
Bill accepted the Lord when he was a young boy and was baptized at Handley Baptist Church. He enjoyed having family and friends come and visit.
He is survived by his loving wife Joan, his brother Charles O. Welch and numerous nephews and nieces.
