Too many good times and stories to tell. His and my husband's, Ronnies antics spread decades. The stories they could tell. He loved having a garden, grew the biggest tomatoes I've ever seen. Always had a pepper in his pocket wrapped in foil. He was a practical joker to be reckoned with. Go easy on them Bill. See you for supper. Love you always. Ronnie &Lahonda

Uncle Billy Joe was one of my favorite Sledge uncles. I loved his subtle sense of humor. The worlds that we came from out of our formative years were very different - he the country boy and I the city slicker. So when we were together in Granbury or Fall Creek hunting, or on the Brazos River fishing, I usually messed up at least once - providing him something to poke fun at. But he had a kind way of doing it, in a memorable, teaching sort of way that I shall never forget. I have good memories of riding around in his green Chevy stepside pickup with him. He was quiet and yet strong. He loved his family and worked hard. I admired the way he looked after his mother - mowing and keeping up the yard and house. He loved his mother. I loved him and I will miss him.
