Bobby Mabery, 68, passed away on Wednesday, September 1, 2021. Bobby will lie-in-state at Wiley Funeral Home in Granbury from 12 noon until 5:00 p.m. Saturday, September 4, 2021. Visitation will be held beginning at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, September 5, 2021, until services begin at 3:00 p.m. at Mambrino Baptist Church.
Bobby was born on March 6, 1953, in Weatherford, Texas to Frank and Charlene Mabery. He married Brenda Bishop on June 12, 1987, in Stephenville, Texas. He loved his wife, his girls, and his grandson dearly. He was a very proud PopPop.
Bobby received his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Education from Tarleton State University. Bobby spent most of his adult life as an educator beginning his teaching career in Tolar before moving to Granbury where he spent the remaining 28 years as teacher, vice principal, and principal. He relished going on Spring Break trips to Washington, DC with his students.
Bobby was a member of First United Methodist Church of Granbury and the “The Old Codgers Whataburger Breakfast Crew”. He was a straight shooter, who didn’t believe in sugar coating anything. He enjoyed cruises, garage sales, estate sales, auctions, and flea markets. One of his favorite hobbies was “buying junk and selling antiques.” He was a licensed auctioneer and avid reader. He loved mowing the lawn and spending time in his man cave barn. He was preceded in death by his father in 2018, his mother in 2020, and most recently his brother-in-law, Elvis Jackson.
Bobby is survived by his loving wife: Brenda Mabery, daughters: Molly Mabery and her partner Kendall Sadler, Sarah Mabery Adams and her husband, Heath, grandson Bennett Adams as well as his sister: Barbara Jackson, nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.
