GRANBURY — Buford Denton, 91, passed away Sunday, Aug. 30, 2015 in Fort Worth.
Service: 2 p.m. Thursday at Wiley Funeral Home in Granbury.
Interment: Holly Hills Memorial Park.
Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorials: Granbury Senior Center.
Buford was born Oct. 29, 1923 in Strickler, Ark. to Vernie L. and Virgie McVicker Denton. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a sales manager for Beverage Package, Inc. for 41 years. He was a funeral assistant with Wiley Funeral Home for many years. Buford was a member of Waples United Methodist Church and was a Mason for over 50 years. He loved volleyball, camping, fishing, baking and his church involvement. He had the ability to strike up a conversation with anyone about anything. He made people laugh and feel at ease and had a strong passion to serve. Buford was a past president and chaplain with the Comanche Peak Sams RV Chapter. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Juanita Shaw; brother, Vernon Denton and a grandson, Levi Palmer.
Survivors: Wife, Cheri Denton; daughters, Carol Beckman and Sheila McDonald; step-son, Neal Palmer; step-daughter, DeJuana Latham; six grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and nephew, Randy Shaw.
