CD Oxford was born on October 24, 1927 in the Rock Church Community of Tolar, Texas and went to be with the Lord on February 14, 2016. CD was a fantastic husband, father and grandfather. He showed much kindness and love for his family and friends. He was known for being a very trustworthy man. His word was gospel.
Service: 2:00 P.M. Thursday, February 18, 2016, at Baker Baptist Church, Hood County, Texas
Interment: Acrea Cemetery, Erath County, Texas
Visitation: 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at Wiley Funeral Home
He and his wife Jean were married on December 17, 1960. They were married for 55 years. They lived in Hood County for most of their lives.
He was a U.S. Veteran who served during the Korean War.
CD worked for the Southwestern Bell Telephone Company for almost 39 years. After retiring he worked part time at Wal-Mart.
He was a softball pitcher for Tolar High School and Saint Marks Methodist Church in Fort Worth. Fellow players said his ball would come across the plate at 90 miles an hour. He and the church league went on to win the league championship. He was also a great football player at Tolar High School.
After retirement he was a rancher. He raised both cattle and goats.
He is greatly loved and will be missed by family and friends.
He is survived by: Wife Jean Oxford, son Chris Oxford and wife Barbara Oxford, daughter Vanessa Oxford, Grandchildren – Tyler Hagen, Harley Hansford, Levi Hansford, Caitlyn Oxford, Case Oxford and Nicolas Wells, Sisters – Jewel Oxford Adolfson, Dovie Oxford Cummins, Brothers- Oline Oxford and wife Irene, many nieces and nephews, and two great granddaughters.
He is preceded in death by: Parents- Ollie and Abby Oxford, Brothers and Sisters- EC Oxford, Bill Oxford, Gracie Cason, Bertha B Swaim, Oletha Blanton and Audrey Nelson.
