Carol Wilbur Kite

Carol Wilbur Kite, loving mother of two, passed away at the age of 60 at Community Hospice of Fort Worth on Saturday, April 20, 2019 after a hard-fought battle with cancer.

Services for Carol are 2 p.m. Tuesday at West Freeway Church of Christ.
Visitation with family and friends at 1 p.m. prior to services.
Burial will follow services in Laurel Land Memorial Park, Crowley.

Carol was born on November 9, 1958 in Fort Worth to James Arthur and Donnie (McKee) Wilbur. She attended Central Elementary School in White Settlement ISD, the Sixth Grade Annex in WSISD and then Brewer Junior High and High School. She was a member of the CF Brewer High School Band and graduated in 1977.
Carol loved music and especially enjoyed her collection of Eddie Rabbitt, Chicago, John Denver and Rod Stewart Albums, although she wouldn’t rule out a great Merle Haggard, Marvin Gaye or Barry Manilow tune either, and she really loved anything and everything George Strait. She truly loved Mexican Food, pizza and just generally going out to eat with family and friends. As a child Carol was a fearsome pitcher in the White Settlement Girls Softball League. She also spent some time bowling in the Ridglea Bowling League. Carol was also a master shopper and had passed this trait on to her daughter and granddaughter as well.
She had recently retired through the Teacher Retirement System of Texas after spending the majority of her working years at Education Service Center, Region XI. She made life-long friends there and in the Brewer Band that she treasured.
Lastly, but most importantly, Carol was a Christian and a member of West Freeway Church of Christ where she felt at home and comfortable. She spent years working as a Bible Class teacher and truly loved her church family.

Carol was preceded in death by her daddy, James Arthur (Buddy) Wilbur; and her maternal and paternal grandparents.

Carol is survived by one son, Wesley Kite; one daughter, Jenna Kite; one wonderful, smart and beautiful granddaughter, Margot Merryman, who was the light of her life; her mother, Donnie Wilbur; her sister and brother-in-law, Cheryl and Ben Posey; her brother, Marty Wilbur; her nephew, Hayden Posey and niece, Ellie Posey; her loving and faithful dog, Jack; and many other wonderful aunts, uncles, cousins, cousin-in-laws and outlaws. She loved them all and they loved her so much.
