GRANBURY – Carole Austin, 81, passed away Friday, Nov. 28, 2015 at Lake Granbury Medical Center in Granbury.

Carole was born May 17, 1934 in San Francisco, Calif. to Kenneth and Thelma Ames Palmer. She married Gerald Austin, Sr. on April 9, 1956 in Reno, Nev. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.
Carole was a member of St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church. She enjoyed latch hook, family and church activities. She had two happenings in her life that made her proud. In 1980 the Hood County News ran an article about the “Goat Lady of Granbury” because she and Gerald raised goats. The other thing she often mentioned was the fact that she was a school mate of singer, Johnny Mathis.
Survivors: Husband, Gerald “Jerry” Austin, Sr.’ sons, Jerry Austin, Jr. and Tim and wife, Diane Austin; grandchildren, Crystal Elrod, Travis Austin and Cheryl and husband David Cline; seven great granddaughters; sister, Alice Tharp; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
