Charles F. Cox Jr., 95, passed away Thursday, March 2, 2017 in Fort Worth, Texas.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, March 13, 2017, at Peaceful Gardens Cemetery in Lubbock, Texas. The Reverend Rob Lindley, Oakwood United Methodist Church, will officiate.
Charles Cox was born October 26, 1921 in Hill County, Texas the son of Charles F. Cox Sr. and Leona Lambert Cox. He grew up and went to school in the Ballard community in Dawson County, Texas. Charles married Helen Monthey in Lamesa, Texas in 1945. He farmed the Cox family farms for 40 years until his retirement and a move to Lubbock, Texas. He was a member, regular in attendance, at Oakwood United Church in Lubbock for many years. In November 2014, he moved to Fort Worth, Texas to be near family. Charles Cox was a U.S. Army veteran and served during World War ll.
Charles was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Monthey Cox, his father, Charles F. Cox, Sr., his mother, Leona Lambert Cox, and sister, Nancy Nell Cox.
Charles is survived by his sister, Jana Ruth Craddock of Fort Worth, niece, Nancy Purtell of Fort Worth and nephew, Jim Craddock of Lake Whitney, Texas, and numerous great-nieces and nephews.
