CHARLIE DOYLE HANKINS was born on January 6, 1926 in Haskell, Texas, the first born son of Charlie Ray and Ola Belle (Gartrell) Hankins. He passed from this life on the 8th day of September, 2013, at the age of 87 years, 8 months and 2 days. He was preceeded in death by Ritha Pauline (Gilleland) Hankins, his wife of 58 years, on the 29th day of September, 2005. He is survived by his second wife, Irene (Mann) Jolly, and by his three children, Ronald Hankins and Shirley (Hankins) Hill, both of Glen Rose, and by Paula (Hankins) Marriot, of Hearne, Texas. He has 3 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Doyle retired from Bell Helicopter in 1988, after 22 years as a machinist. He served in the U.S. Army at the end of World War II. He was a member of the local Masonic Lodge (number 525) for over 50 years. After retirement, he enjoyed raising cattle and watching them graze on the homeplace of his parents here in Somervell County.
Graveside service: 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2013, at Ward Branch Cemetery in Somervell County. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Wiley Funeral Home.
