Cheryl Kay VanSlyke, 70, a loving mother, grandmother and wife, went home with the angels Tuesday, February 18, 2014.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday in Biggers Funeral Chapel. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday prior to the service.
Kay was a loving, loyal, devoted, mother, grandmother and wife. Kay was born October 8, 1943, in Fort Worth to Sissie and PeeWee Nix. She married Denny VanSlyke, her soulmate and true love, in 1970. Kay attended Castleberry Junior High and graduated from North Side High School. She never knew a stranger and had many loving, caring friends near and far. She was our sunshine, our mentor, our friend and the greatest gift, our mother. She will be dearly missed.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Denny, and parents, Sissie and PeeWee.
She is survived by her daughters, Kaci Daniel and husband, Jimmy, and Kelly Ryan; stepsons, Michael VanSlyke and wife, Ellen, and Sean VanSlyke; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and many friends and other family.
