Chief Gene Springer passed away Thursday, November 14, 2019 surrounded by his loved ones.
Funeral services: 1 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church of Saginaw. Interment: Saginaw Cemetery.
Visitation: 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Biggers Funeral Home.

Chief was born February 15, 1938 in Rosebud to the late Alec Edward and Letha Faye Springer. He was a Saginaw Policeman for 40 years and Chief of Police for 35 years. He hosted the Annual Saginaw Police Christmas Party for Kids. The City of Saginaw dedicated the new police station in his name. Chief was an avid hunter and fisherman. He had a love of Westerns and country gospel music. Chief had two uniforms, his police uniform or camo.
Chief was preceded in death by his wife of 27 years, Dolores; parents; two sisters; and three brothers.
Survivors: Children, Debbie and Randy Parks, Wes and Trenda Rodgers, Robby and Sara Springer, Tammy and Ray Ferraccio; grandchildren, Amanda, Daniel, Kessley and William Mayrath, Matthew and Casey Ferraccio, Megan Springer, Randall Geary, Bailey Springer, Kaitlyn and Jay Townsley, and Shelby Ferraccio; great-grandchildren, Harlow, Jaxon, and Harper; step-mother, Shirley Springer; siblings, Betty and Mike Springer; and many loyal extended family and friends.
