Chief Gene Springer, I worked for you for 13+ years and never in my 47 years of law enforcement did I ever work for a man I respected and loved more than you. It was my pleasure to serve under you as a patrolman, Sgt. and as Captain of the Saginaw Police Dept. Knowing your family and working with Delores at the Tarrant County Sheriff Dept. was another pleasure. So sorry to just now learn of your passing. No doubt you are a special angel in heaven. Words cannot describe what a wonderful kind generous and special man He was. He was a true friend to so many. I was honored to have him as a friend. When I first met him years ago it was as if I knew him my entire life. There was nothing he wouldn’t do for you. He truly never met a stranger. He was known far and wide as a good and decent man. The first man I ever knew that no one ever had across word to say about him. He had a genuine love for people. It didn’t matter whether you were rich or poor, Whether you wore white collar, a blue collar, Or no caller. He treated everyone the same. You were all equal To Chief Gene Springer. Just say I’m going to miss him he’s an understatement. He was so loved by everyone. He was a father figure to some, A brother to many,and a friend to all. In all my years of life I never met a man like him. A heart as big as Texas. We all lost someone so special. There will never be another like him .There is no doubt in my mind he is in heaven. Gene married my Momma when I was 17. He never showed favoritism to any of his kids, when asked all four of us were his. He was fair and always tried to help out all the Boswell and Saginaw students.
