TOLAR – A memorial service for Clark David Wotherspoon, 99, of Tolar will be held on Monday, September 16, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at the Tolar United Methodist Church, 8812 Hwy. 377 West Tolar, Texas with Pastors Christy Barto and Helen Jones officiating. Lunch will be served at the Church following the memorial with a graveside interment service to be held at 3:00 p.m. at the Greenwood Cemetery and Funeral Home, 3100 White Settlement Road in Ft. Worth.
Dr. Wotherspoon passed away September 10, 2013, in Granbury. He was born January 20, 1914 to David Lindsey Wotherspoon, of Scotland and Abigail Carolyn Duncan, of Illinois, in Cleveland, Ohio. Clark attended Texas Wesleyan University, Texas Christian University and University of North Texas where he obtained a Doctorate Bachelor of Science Degree in Secondary Education in 1962. Clark was a lifelong educator and taught for the Ft. Worth Independent School District, Penbrook University, and after teaching his last 14 years as a Doctorial Professor at Morehead State University in Morehead Kentucky, he retired to Tolar in 1979. Clark was known in Hood County for growing the Easter Egg Tree which sprouted multicolored Easter Eggs during the Easter Season.
