Clyde Douglas “C.D.” “Manny” Allen III, 72, passed away peacefully in his sleep at home surrounded by his loving wife, daughters, family, and friends Thursday, August 13, 2015.
A celebration of life in memory of C.D. will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday, September 12, at the Stockyards Station, in the Lone Star Room. Please join us in honoring his life.
C.D. was born February 2, 1943, in Fort Worth to Mary Louise Chapman and Clyde “Doc” Allen Jr.
He was briefly married in 1959 and shortly thereafter his first daughter was born. C.D. married again in 1964 and was married for 17 years and blessed with a second daughter and a son. In November 2013 he married the love of his life, Julie King Allen. Julie stood beside him, lovingly committed and caring for him, throughout his extended illness, until he drew his last breath. They spent 11 wonderful years together.
In 1960 C.D. enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was stationed aboard the aircraft carrier USS Kitty Hawk. C.D. served four years active duty and two years in the Reserve. He was honorably discharged in 1966.
C.D. went to work at General Dynamics, now Lockheed, in 1964. While there he worked as a flight line inspector and as part of the duties of his job became a world traveler, which he enjoyed immensely. He retired in 2003.
C.D. was a fun-loving and upbeat guy. His wife and family brought him unparalleled joy. Whenever you asked him how he was doing he would answer, “Every day’s like Christmas.” C.D. loved jokes and hanging out with family and friends drinking beer, talking and laughing. He enjoyed watching sports, Fox News, “BBQ Pitmasters,” “How It’s Made” and documentaries. He cherished family time and one of his favorite things was hosting the annual Christmas Eve party at his house each year and hanging and filling stockings for all the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a loving grandfather and was overjoyed at all their accomplishments.
C.D. was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Louise; his father, Doc; and his grandmother, Lila F. Chapman, whom he loved dearly.
He is survived by his wife, Julie Allen; sisters, Donna Hotho, Judee Randall and Docette Stall; daughters, Cass Carlton and husband, Michael, and Barbie Williams and husband, Randy; son, Patrick Allen; stepson, Clint Kersh; grandchildren, Noelle, Micah, Madi, Caitie, Xachery, Billy, Brett, Carey, Brian, Lydia, Aaron and Chris; 18 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a large, loving extended family; and a host of close friends, each of whom was very dear to him.
