Clyde Edward “Jack” Ozbun, 90, passed away on Tuesday; January 26, 2021 in Granbury.
Jack was born September 22, 1930 in Cedar Bayou, Texas to Clyde and Erma Smith Ozbun. He was a United States Air Force veteran, a (50) year member of Baytown Masonic Lodge #1357 and was a member of Lakeside Baptist Church in Granbury. Jack and Mary Louise Cox were married on April 24, 1954 in Anahuac, Texas.
Clyde, known as Jack to his friends, enjoyed life, and was loved by by many, especially his wife of 66 years, Louise, and his 7 children. As a young man, Jack excelled in school and in sports, especially football, and had a lot of success, being part of a senior football team that went to State. He was so proud of that and talked about it many times.
Jack went on to join the US Air Force during the Korean War, and was proud to serve his country. Upon discharge, Jack began a career with General Telephone (now Verizon) and was a loyal employee for 38 years. During this time he met the love of his life and they were married in 1954. He worked hard every day to provide for his large family, many times doing without himself so that his children would have what they needed.
When he retired, he and Louise moved to Granbury to enjoy retirement, and they certainly did. He became an avid gardener, and loved working in his yard, and was always a loyal supporter of the Dallas Cowboys football team, in good times and bad. It was during this time that he was invited to Lakeside Baptist Church, and realized his need to commit his life to Christ, and that he did. That was fulfillment in his life, and he was so for thankful for it.
In this last year, his health began to fail, and he moved to Harbor Lake Senior Retirement home, and with every phone call, he always asked everyone to pray for him and his wife. He was ready to go, looking forward to it, and is now at home with his Lord. If he were here, there would be so many he would thank, but especially his longtime neighbors and friends, Ann and Julian Gonzalez. His friends and members from Lakeside Baptist Church. He also appreciated all the staff Harbor Lakes for their care, and we, his family, thank all of them as well.
He was preceded in death by three children, Karen Paulsen, Alvin Sisco and Darlene Bartholomew.
Jack is survived by his wife of (66) years, Mary Louise Ozbun; four children, Kelly Sisco, Christy Brown and husband Rodney, Steven Ozbun and wife Betty and Kathy Morrow; (17) grandchildren and (19) great-grandchildren.
