He was born on August 25, 1933, in Byers, Texas, the only child of Roscoe Earl and Sallie Everett Henderson Jones. He graduated from Byers High School, worked a year or two at Sheppard Field, and then entered the Air Force.
He married Leona Jean Sloan Jones on December 21, 1954, and the two established a home in Wichita Falls, Texas.
One year after they married, Curtis was sent to Korea. During the year in Korea, he decided to attend college and applied for an early discharge to start college in January. The early discharge was granted.
He attended Midwestern University and graduated in three years with honors, and then attended the University of Texas in Austin, where he received his Master’s in Mathematics. He accomplished this in one year and two summers with all A’s.
Curtis was a devoted father and Christian. He served Trinity Baptist Church as a Deacon and Sunday School teacher for 50 years. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Curtis was hired by General Dynamics, which is now Lockheed. He worked there 38 plus years and traveled extensively with the company to places such as Taiwan, Japan, and Israel.
Upon retiring, Curtis and Jean moved close to Hudson Oaks, and Jean’s mother, Dafne Sloan, moved with them for the last seven years of her life.
Survivors: Curtis is survived by his wife of 67 plus years, Leona Jean Sloan Jones; son, Clinton Earl Jones and his wife, Angie of New Braunfels; daughter, Mindi Daphna Rose and her husband, Barry of Godley; four grandchildren, Berkley Mills and her husband, Scott, Cade and Chloe Jones, and Briggs Rose.
