Cyril Archibald Longton, 91, formerly of Groton, Connecticut, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 24, 2014, at the home of his daughter, Pat Willard.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, September 2, at Fullness in Christ Church, 8895 Random Road. Committal with military honors will be in Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. The family will receive friends 9 a.m. until service time Tuesday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to Heart to Heart Hospice, 5608 Malvey Ave., Suite 200, Fort Worth, Texas 76107. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Heart to Heart Hospice for the compassionate care given.
Born May 11, 1923, to Thomas J. and Mabel V. Longton in Forest, Wisconsin, he was the sixth of seven siblings, all who predeceased him. He served proudly as a U.S. Navy pilot during World War II and married the former Helen C. Allen of East Pepperell, Massachusetts, on September 20, 1944. She predeceased him on June 14, 2014. They would have celebrated their 70th anniversary on September 20. To know him was to love him.
He is survived by his daughters, Pat and Nancy Willard, Linda Barnett of Fort Worth and Joann Longton of New London, Connecticut; sons, Chuck Longton of Oakdale, Connecticut, Pete Longton of Fort Worth, Joe Longton of Urbanna, Virginia, and Bill Longton of Norwich, Connecticut; 21 grandchildren; and 40 great-grandchildren.
