Darence was born Feb. 4, 1925, in the Mambrino Community in Hood County, Texas. She served as Hood County Treasurer and worked at Mott’s store. Darence was a member of Tolar Baptist Church and also attended Southside Baptist Church. She taught Sunday School for many years. She loved music, singing and playing mandolin. Darence enjoyed gardening, shelling peas and fishing. Preceding her in death were her parents, three husbands and 14 brothers and sisters.
Survivors: Children, Hulan “Arkie” Mabery and wife, Helen, Ronnie Mabery and wife, Gwen, Deborah Strickland and husband, Kim; 9 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
