David Warren Pyle was born in Austin, Texas, on November 17, 1949 to Howard Oscar Pyle and Evelyn Ruth Keith Pyle. He attended Travis High school in Austin. His first son, Erin Prescott Pyle, was born in 1970. He served in the Marine Corp in the mid-70s, and was recently disabled due to his service. He married his love, Ruthie L. Pyle, in Austin in May of 1980, and they welcomed a daughter, Evelyn Elizabeth, and second son, Zachary David, in 1981 and 1982. He graduated from Southwest Texas State University with a bachelor’s degree in geography in 1986. A third son, Malachi Mills, was born in 1992.
David worked at Motorola for many years in Austin, Texas, and Tempe, Arizona, and most recently worked as a shipping and receiving clerk at the Longview News Journal in Longview, Texas, from which he retired in 2015. David became a grandfather in 2010, and again in 2011, 2012, 2013, and 2014!
He graduated to heaven on December 12, 2017, after a battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia related to his service. He loved reading and learning, and instilled those attributes in his children and grandchildren. He valued honesty and kindness, and was a lifelong Democrat.
David is preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Evelyn Pyle, and many other family members who are now rejoicing with him.
He is remembered by his wife, Ruthie; children and spouses Erin and Jen Pyle, Evelyn and Thomas Tutt, Zachary and Sarah Pyle, and Malachi Pyle; his grandchildren, Derry, Cathal, David, Lavender, and Dawn; his brother and sister-in-law, Daniel and Samran Pyle; and many other family and friends.
His ashes will be interred at Pyle Prairie Cemetery on June 9, 2018.
