Delores “Dodie” Elizabeth Hedderich Simmons, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 23, 2016.
A celebration of Dodie’s life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to the Scottish Rite Children’s Hospital or the Salvation Army.
Dodie was born October 3, 1936, to Adam Hedderich and Anna Hoover Hedderich in Pana, Illinois. On April 15, 1956, she married the love of her life, LeRoy Simmons. Dodie loved being with her family, traveling, shopping, playing bingo, doing crossword puzzles, and spending time with her friends. She always had a smile and her outgoing spirit made people feel like they had known her their whole life. Dodie and LeRoy spent many happy years in Wyoming where she worked for the state of Wyoming. They moved to Texas in 1982 where she was employed by the General Services Administration. She retired from civil service in 1997 after many years of service. After retiring, Dodie began traveling to Europe, fulfilling lifelong dreams.
She was preceded in death by her parents and eldest daughter, Katherine Elizabeth Villnow.
Dodie is survived by her husband of 60 years, LeRoy Simmons; daughter, Lisa and husband, Doyle Ooten; daughter, Tish and husband, Neil Mayfield; grandchildren, Elizabeth and husband, Brad Foulkes, Tim Walton, Daniel Corman, Jeffrey Corman, Nikki and husband, Paul Ervin, Christopher Cazier and Michael Mayfield; great-grandchildren, Lauren and Logan Foulkes, Hazy Walton, Ashton Ervin, Zoe and Dexter Cazier.
