GLEN ROSE — Dennis James Ramsay, 74, passed away Thursday, Aug. 28, 2014 in Glen Rose. Celebration of life service: 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 19, 2014 at Wiley Funeral Home. Dennis was born Sept. 10, 1939 in Somervell Co. to J.E. and Oleta Beck Ramsay. He graduated from Glen Rose High School in 1959 where he was active in the FFA, football, basketball, track, student council and other school organizations. He went to work for Mobil Oil until graduating from the University of North Texas in Jan. 1966 with an accounting degree. Dennis was involved in commercial sales, soliciting commercial accounts for CPA before starting his own accounting business in 1976. He discovered his love for the public when he became a Somervell County Commissioner for Precinct two in 2003, retiring in Dec. of 2006. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church, Somervell Co. Republican Club and the Chamber of Commerce.
Dennis married Sandra McCrary on July 1, 1977. His hobbies and enjoyment in life were his family activities, sports (Mavericks), loved fishing and boating, the art of searching/negotiating a deal whether he needed it or not. He centered his life around his wife and two boys. He loved practical jokes and had a sense of humor and a quick wit.
Survivors: Loving wife, Sandra Ramsay of Glen Rose; sons, Michael Ramsay of Denton and Sean and wife, Elizabeth McCrary of Dallas; and precious grandsons, Caleb and Connor McCrary of Dallas. Dennis enjoyed playing with and teasing Caleb and Conner and his best friend until the end, his little dog, “Pepper”.
