I was fortunate to work at FWPL while Don was there. So many good things can be said about him. He had a great laugh that made others smile to hear it. Don was always professional and kind to everyone. A good soul....

As a beginning reference librarian, Don was a mentor, an invaluable resource throughout my three decades as a librarian. Don was an "old school" librarian. He was the one who translated Latin, solved math problems, navigated the maze of government documents. He was funny, smart, thoughtful, and considerate, as well as passionate in his beliefs. Some patrons refused help from anyone but Don. As a patron, I found Don to be helpful as a friend, putting himself in front of the question, always listening for clues, always interested in the question and in me. Without fail, he inquired about our son. There is simply no replacement for Don. No doubt, he wouldn't object--in case anyone is listening--to someone standing up and serving.
