Dorothy Beard, 94, passed away on Thursday; December 24, 2020 at her home in Granbury.

She was born May 17, 1926 in Hugo, Oklahoma to Joseph and Barbara Petty Maxey.

Dorothy was of the Baptist faith. She loved wrestling (fanatically), she loved her dogs Jen and Ruffle and most of all she loved her children with all her heart. Dorothy was one of the most generous people that you could ever meet on this earth.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, John Harding Beard; two daughters, Joan Louise Casteel and Gloria Ann Mills, sons-in-laws, Marty Morris. Dale Casteel and Darwin Sanders and by six siblings.

Dorothy is survived by seven children, Lenora Nivens and husband Darrell, Maxine Keller and husband David “Frog”, Elaine Morris, Verna Sanders, John Wayne Beard, Carl Anthony “Tony” Beard and Tommy Ray Beard and by (176) grand, great-grand and great-great-grandchildren.

Viewing will be from 10am. to 6pm. Thursday; December 31, 2020 at Wiley Funeral Home in Granbury.

Graveside services will be held 3:00pm. Saturday; January 2, 2021 at Llano Cemetery in Amarillo, TX.
