Douglas McArthur Summers, 72, went to his heavenly home Monday, March 16, 2015.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 11, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 2520 Eighth Ave., Fort Worth. Private burial was in Laurel Land Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Community Hospice of Texas.
Douglas was born July 1, 1942, in Lexington, North Carolina, to Johnny and Gaynell Summers. He loved people and with his quick wit and humor, loved to inspire a laugh or smile. Doug has left us, his family, with a smile and warm heart. He will be greatly missed by his many friends and family. He delighted in seeing the joy he brought to others. He had retired from Container Corp./Smurfit Stone, where he had worked for 41 years. He was a steward of UPW International, then president of for 20 years. He will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Douglas is survived by his wife, Mary; children, John and his wife, Cathy, Scott and his wife, Michelle, and Alyssa; grandchildren, Caleb, Cody, Cameron, Grayson, Eyesten, Zoey and Blaise; great-grandchildren, Leo and Noah; and sister, Jean Bumgarner.
