Eliu Enriquez, 73, passed away at his home in Pecan Plantation on January 8, 2014.
Funeral service: 10 A.M. Tuesday, January 14, 2013 at Lakeside Baptist Church
Visitation: 6 – 8 P.M. Monday, January 13, 2014 at Martin’s Funeral Home
Interment: DFW National Cemetery, Dallas, Texas
Eliu Enriquez was born on March 29, 1940 in Chihuahua, Mexico. He grew up in El Paso where he graduated from Yesleta High School. He met his wife in El Paso, where they married and later moved to Grand Prairie, TX and lived there for 30 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Grand Prairie and also served as a city council member. He later moved to Granbury, where he lived for 14 years and was a member of Lakeside Baptist Church.
Eliu served as a Staff Sergeant in the US Army for 3 years during the Vietnam War, stationed in Seoul, Korea as a Nike Missile technician. He graduated from the University of Texas at El Paso with a Bachelors degree in Accounting. He had an entrepreneur spirit, when at age 8 he made his first shoeshine box. He worked as an IRS agent and then owned his own accounting business.
Married to Gloria Enriquez for 47 years, he was a loving husband and devoted father and grandfather, “Papa”. They had two sons.
He served on mission trips at Lakeside Baptist Church, was an avid golfer, and loved to ride his motorcycle, until he was inflicted with ALS, “Lou Gehrig’s Disease”. He was a devoted member of his men’s Bible Study at Pecan Plantation and continued to work and live life to the fullest until his passing.
Survivors: wife, Gloria Enriquez; son, Mark and wife Robin; son, Michael and wife Lori and grandson, Jared. Siblings, Boaneges (Bernie); Vashiti (Judith), Abner, Servando, Ithamar (Marcy) and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.
