Ellen, known as “Granny” to most and “Gigi” to her great-grandchildren, was a retired bookkeeper. Ellen was born in Perkins, Calif., and then traveled with her husband as a proud Navy wife while raising her children. She settled in Texas to continue to raise her family. She will be most remembered for her sense of humor, her grace, endurance and her steadfast commitment to her family. She loved without condition; she did not believe in making excuses; she was honest and loved to laugh. She was “Granny” to so many more than her grandchildren; everyone who met her loved her. She will be very missed.
She joins her husband, Howard August McQuone, and her parents, James and Lily Hamilton, in heaven.
Survivors: Children, Virginia Troy Hale, Dorinda Cay West, Darlene Rodel Swain and Bradley Craig McQuone. She also leaves behind 13 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
