GRANBURY – Ellsworth “Ed” Dare, 73, passed away Jan. 9, 2016. Memorial Service: to be determined in Bay City, Texas. Memorials: Cancer Care Services of Hood County; American Cancer Society – Hood County Chapter or American Heart Association.
Ed was born June 27, 1942 in Gloucester, MA. He joined the U.S. Navy after high school and served 16 years destroyer duty, seeing action in the Cuban missile crisis and four tours of duty in Vietnam. Ed was a Mason; past Master of the Bay City Lodge, a member of the Scottish Rite of Houston; member and past president of Bay City Town Clowns Shriner unit. It was in Bay City where he worked at the South Texas Nuclear Operation Project for 19 years; he retired in early 2000. He was a member of Triple Cross Cowboy Church in Granbury. He enjoyed fishing with his boys. He was preceded in death by his mother Edith and step-father, Maynard Tucker, Jr., sister, Margaret Fonte and brother, Forrest Dare.
Survivors: Wife of 49 years Geri; sons, Edward Dare, Andrew Dare; brothers, Fred (Donna) Tucker, Maynard (Leslie) Tucker III; sisters, Eileen (Howard) Lodge, Helen (Rick) Acosta; several nieces and nephews.
