Emmett L. Tiner, 101 years of age passed away December 22, 2016 at the Courtyards at River Park in Fort Worth Texas. Mr. Tiner was born September 28, 1915 in Trent Texas to James William Tiner and Nora Ann Callahan. He was a WWII veteran, recipient of Purple Heart, Silver Star, 2 Bronze stars, Oak Cluster Awards, and a graduate of Texas AM with a masters degree. After military service he returned to teaching in Albany and Alpine, and later joined the agriculture department of Texas A&M. He was well known in the Young Farmers Association as Executive Secretary, and he was the area supervisor of vocational agriculture.
He married Fonda Millsap and lived outside Hico, Texas as a cattle rancher and farmer. They later moved to Lake Granbury, Texas. After Fonda’s death in 1992, he moved to Fort Worth where he enjoyed living independently, his daily workouts at the gym, dancing with his many friends, visiting with family.
