RAINBOW — Evelyn Adams, passed away Thursday, July 16, 2015, in Robinson, Texas.
Memorial Service: 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 25, 2015, at Wiley Funeral Home in Glen Rose, Texas.
Burial: 10:00 a.m. Saturday, prior to funeral, at Rock Creek Cemetery.

Memorials: Somervell County Historical Society.
Evelyn was born Oct. 25, 1920, in Dallas, to Joe Elbert and Lena Mae Watson. She attended Dallas schools and graduated from Sunset High School. Evelyn grew up in a family that loved music. When she was in the second grade, she began piano lessons. On Sept. 21, 1940 Evelyn married Wayland G. Adams. In 1958 Wayland, Evelyn and their four children moved to Glen Rose, Texas, settling in the Rainbow community and joining Rainbow Baptist Church. Evelyn was a member of the WMU and served as GA counselor for a while at Rainbow Baptist Church.
For about eight years, Evelyn enjoyed being the secretary for First Baptist Church of Glen Rose working with Bro. Bill Schibbler. In 1985, at the request of Attorney-at-Law Tim Rudolph, she served as abstractor setting up his basic abstract and title insurance company, enabling him to receive his state license.
Wayland and Evelyn also became involved in Civic affairs. They had a part in organizing the Somervell Historical Society. They helped organize the Historical Museum and served as volunteers working in and helping to maintain the museum. Evelyn was appointed representative of the Historical Society to talk with the county commissioners for help in funding a proposed library. It was decided to add a referendum to a forthcoming ballot for the citizens to decide if they wanted a library. The vote was an overwhelming “yes”. The City-County Library was established and funds for a librarian was provided. Evelyn was appointed and served a 3 year term with the first Board of Trustees of the City-County Library, once again helping to compile bylaws for an organization. Evelyn is a past member, secretary and chairman of the Somervell County Historical Commission. She is a past Matron and has been an active member of Glen Rose Chapter No. 171, Order of the Eastern Star until more recent years.
While a member and serving as a pianist for Cottonwood Baptist Church, the church members desired to grow and to build a new sanctuary. With her knowledge of abstracting and title search she assisted the church body in obtaining a clear title to the land upon which the church building is located.
Evelyn has handled the hats she has worn with grace and has set an extraordinary example of love and compassion for people and their needs.
