Frederick Weeks departed from this earth on Saturday, March 12, 2022, and he is now in the presence of the Lord. Dad was truly loved by his immediate family, sisters in law, cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends.

Frederick Weeks, son of the late Joseph and Hattie Weeks, was born on May 29, 1929, in Atlantic City, New Jersey. He was the fifth of six children.
He was educated in the Detroit Public School System and graduated from Northern High School.
Frederick married Rosa Garry in 1949 and they had two children, Michael, and Linda. One of Frederick’s virtues was his work ethic. When work was scarce in Detroit, he would go as far as traveling to New York, with his brother-in-law, to get work as a painter. Then, he would send the money back home to his wife and children. Frederick was hired as a “sand shoveler” at The Budd Company in August of 1950. After many years of marriage, Frederick and Rosa divorced.
On the 22nd of May 1964, Frederick married Mildred Williams, where they spent 46 years of marriage. They shared many hobbies together. Frederick and Mildred were amateur flower growers and members of the Dahlia Society, winning many first and second place awards. Their front and back yards were a testimony of their love for gardening. Their yard featured a wide variety of beautiful plants, which were skillfully designed and arranged. They also influenced many friends and relatives to becoming interested in growing flowers.
Frederick experienced many promotions, while working at The Budd Company, but the greatest one is when he entered the apprentice program to become a tool and die maker.
His greatest challenge was mastering algebra during his apprenticeship. On June 1, 1991, Frederick retired with 40.75 years of service as a tool and die maker. Frederick also took several computer classes, where he became very proficient in designing and making greeting cards. Many people would look forward to receiving a Christmas or birthday card from Frederick, because it was personalized with their own special message and their names printed on the card.
Frederick and his wife, Mildred, belonged to a social club and hosted many gatherings and outings with their club members. They enjoyed the fellowship, good food and lifelong friendships.
Following in his father’s footsteps, Frederick was also very dedicated to the Lord and a faithful member of St. Matthew’s & St. Joseph’s Episcopal Church in Detroit, Michigan. For many years, as a member of the church’s brotherhood, Frederick led the outreach ministry that fed homeless people, every month. He and his team were responsible for purchasing, cooking, and serving the food. He retired from his ministry responsibilities at age of 85.
Frederick was also known for his great grilling skills on holidays; his BBQ was finger-licking good! Frederick was a mild-mannered man who was very easy to get along with. Everywhere he went, people would say what a nice man he was. During his hospital stays over the last several years, the nurses and staff adored Fred and gave him the best of care.
Several years ago, Frederick relocated from Detroit, Michigan to California to live with his son, Michael and his wife, Mary. In February of 2020, they relocated to Fort Wort, Texas.
Dad lived in an assisted living home in Fort Worth for the last seven months of his life, where he met new friends and enjoyed being around people his own age.
Frederick leaves to cherish his memory his son and daughter-in law, Michael & Mary Weeks; his daughter and granddaughter, Linda, and Christina Rosa Gordon; his grandchildren, Patrick Michael, Marcus James; his great-grandchildren, Patrick Michael, Jr., Cydney A., and Malachi Weeks; sister-in-law, Helen Weeks; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Robert & Doloris Garry; sister-in-law, Elva Watson; brother-in-law, Alfred Nevels, sister-in-law, Rebecca Hearns, as well as a host of nieces and nephews and friends
He was preceded in death by his siblings, James, Alfred, Joseph Jr., Shirley Weeks-Hursey, and Samuel Johnson-Morris; his grandchild, Denise Marie Weeks; and his stepson, Issac Williams.
