Gary Edward Hager Sr.

Gary Edward Hager Sr., 69, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and God the Father on August 15, 2021

Gary was born May 22, 1952 in Oak Park, Illinois to William Hager and Katherine (Gierling)

Hager. When Gary was 16 years old, he met 14-year-old, Lil and they were married 5 years later.  They loved each other and grew together, as they went through the valleys and mountain tops of life.  They would have celebrated 48 years of marriage this year.

Gary was a devoted husband, dad, father-in-law and grandpa.  He loved his family more than life itself.  There was absolutely nothing that he would not do for them.  One thing family and friends could always count on was that if there was a need, he would do whatever he could to fulfill it.  He was self-sacrificing when it came to loving on those that he cared for.

He had an uncanny work ethic.  Whether he was running G & G Express, Inc., our very successful trucking company that he grew from the ground up, or whether he was driving tractor trailers for other companies, he never missed a day of work in the whole of his career.  Additionally, several years ago, he tenaciously went through proton radiation treatments for prostate cancer, also without missing any workdays.

Gary loved Jesus and he loved serving at church.  Over the years he served as a deacon, but his real joy was in helping pastors and ministry leaders accomplish whatever was on their plates for a particular Sunday, or a particular week.  All the while during his serving he would be talking and bonding with congregation members.  He loved to converse with people and people were drawn to him and just loved him.  Most recently he was a weekly volunteer at Life Unlimited Food Ministry in Ft. Worth where he worked hard serving as well as conversing and bonding with individuals.

He was the evangelist in our family.  He would talk to anyone about Jesus.  From the unchurched, to Muslims, to the atheist.  His heart was to help people escape the flames of hell and secure their eternity in heaven.  To God be the glory.

He is survived by his wife, Lillian; son, Gary Edward Hager Jr. and his wife, Amy; daughter, Danielle Yokley and her husband, Chris; their children Lily, Brianna, Titus and Colin; siblings, Cindy Michalec, Nancy Gingras, Mark Hager and their spouses and children.
