George Stephenson

George B. Stephenson, 86, passed away Tuesday, March 31, 2015 in Granbury, Texas.
Memorial services for Mr. Stephenson will be held at a later date.
George was born January 29, 1929 in Johnstown, Pennsylvania to George and Mary Arlene Stephenson.
A few months after graduation from high school, he enlisted in the Army Air Corp. He spent sixteen years in service to his country and most of his career was spent as an aircraft mechanic instructor. He jokingly said he had an “all expenses paid tour” of Japan for eighteen months, with temporary duty in South Korea. Six years later he was sent to the Japanese Islands. During his military career he advanced to Technical Sergeant (E-6).
After his discharge from the military he became an aircraft mechanid for the department of the Navy at the Pacific Missile Test Center in California and through a series of promotions he retired as an Associate Ordnance Officer.
In 1987 he moved his family to Granbury, Texas where he and his wife enjoyed many years together living on the lake. His “beautiful bride”, Janet preceded him in death in 2002.
Survivors: A “wonderful daughter” Danice Weaver, (who became his rock) and her husband Jim. Sons, Steven Stephenson and wife Camie of San Diego, CA., David Stephenson and wife Mary of Frisco and Lawrence Stephenson of Elgin. Three beautiful granddaughters, Amber Rae Weaver, Catherine Clendenning and husband Brent and Laura Stephenson; grandson, Caesar and great grandchildren, Alice and Russell; siblings, Eleanor Schrom and husband Kenneth, Judith Murphy and Gilbert Feathers and wife Cathy; and numerous cousins.
