George Irl McBride, Sr., 78, passed away peacefully at home Wednesday, February 14, 2018. Memorial Service: 2:00 PM, Thursday, February 22, 2018 at Eagle Mountain Baptist Church in Fort Worth.
George was born November 15, 1939 in Hico, Texas. He was one of two children born to the late, George Marshall and Alvis Irl (Peggy) McBride. George served in the US Airforce and in the US Army Reserves. It was in the later he trained to be an EMT. He worked most of his life as a security officer from which he retired. In retirement, George volunteered at Fort Worth Nature Center & Refuge. He was a master naturalist and was a training guide specializing in hummingbirds and turtles. He loved to lead kids on nature hikes and was known to them as “George of the Jungle”. George also worked with the Fort Worth Accordion Club for 25 years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Naomi McBride December 21, 2013.
George is survived by daughters, Melinda Ivicic and her husband, Paul Pitman, Khirsten “Kris” Heimann and her husband, Scott; son George “Mac” McBride, Jr. and his wife Cammie; 12 grandchildren; two great-grandsons; niece, Melody McBride; and nephew, Marshall McBride.
