GLEN ROSE — Gerald “Jerry” Wood, 78, passed away Monday, Nov. 24, 2014, in Glen Rose.
Graveside service: 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2014, at Squaw Creek Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Wiley Funeral Home.
Memorials: Charity of choice.
Jerry was born May 22, 1936, in Baltimore, Maryland, to Howard and Mary Bryson Wood. He married Charlotte Barnwell, Nov. 17, 1954, in Lovington, N.M. He served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of the Korean War. He retired from Texas-New Mexico Power after 35 years of service. Jerry served on the board for Glen Rose ISD and was a Silver Tiger member. Jerry also served on the Glen Rose Medical Center hospital board of directors. He was a member of the Glen Rose Chamber of Commerce and the Lions Club. He was an avid golfer and was instrumental in getting the Squaw Valley Golf Course built in Glen Rose. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, and great granddaughter, Eden Nichole Lewis.
Survivors: Wife, Charlotte Wood of Glen Rose; children, Jerry Dwayne Wood of Glen Rose, Patti Elaine Willey and husband, Guy, of Benbrook, Lori Ann Wood of Glen Rose; grandchildren, Dustin Guion Willey and wife, Nicci, of Benbrook, Amber Miran Willey and Donald Walters, II, of Benbrook, Kayla Ann Lewis and husband, Josh of Glen Rose, Aaryn Elaine Thompson and husband, Josh, of Lake Worth, Shelby Glenn Junge and wife, Veronica, of Glen Rose, Reilly Ann Junge of Glen Rose; great grandchildren, Jacob, Braddock, Benjamin, Asher; sisters, Marilyn Mohler, Virginia White both of San Angelo, Texas.
