Grace Purselley Vaughn, 96, passed away on March 31, 2017, in Granbury, Texas. Grace was born on July 27, 1920, in Hood County, Texas, to John Herman and Clara Maples Purselley. She was the third of four children: Bertha Robertson, Bud Purselley, and D. M. Purselley, who all preceded her in death. She married Devereau Vaughn on May 2, 1948. They were married for almost 43 years before he died on February 26, 1991. They lived in the Mambrino area of Hood County, and although they never had any children of their own, they were known as “Aunt Gracie and Uncle Donkey” to many nieces, nephews, and children of all ages. She was an election judge for Hood County and served as the president of the Lake Granbury Art Association, and was a member for many years. She is survived by four nieces: Jan Tumlinson, Linda Bryant, Paulette Lane, Grace Qualls, and nephew, Allen Purselley and wife, Judy; cousin, Bobbie Rockwell, and many great nieces and nephews.
Services are at 2:00 pm on Thursday, April 6, 2017, at Mambrino Baptist Church.
Visitation is 6:00 to 8:00 pm on April 5, 2017, Wiley Funeral Home, Granbury, Texas.
